Finding My Stride on Week 2
This week marked the second chapter of my journey towards my first marathon, and I’m starting to feel the rhythm of training! Here’s a breakdown of how it went:
Tuesday: Easy Run + Strength Training
I kicked off the week with a 1:15 easy-paced run during my lunch break. Running in a group always makes it tricky to keep the right pace, but I managed to stay on track. I’m also getting better at controlling my effort on uphill sections, which is a big win for me. In the evening, I added a leg-strengthening session to round out the day.
Thursday: Progressive Endurance Run
For this session, I ran solo along the lake, focusing on progressive pacing. It was a challenge to avoid starting too fast, so I relied entirely on my heart rate to guide me. Surprisingly, what I thought would be a tough workout turned into an enjoyable one, and I even appreciated the moments of faster running. It felt great to push myself without overdoing it.
Saturday: Ski Touring Adventure
I swapped my running shoes for ski touring gear on Saturday, climbing 600m at an easy pace. Itt was a wonderful outing. However, my legs got a serious burn during the descent !
Sunday: Long Run
I felt amazing on Sunday and decided to go on my optional endurance run of 1:30. I explored part of the 20km Lausanne race route and consciously eased up on the Avenue de Tivoli section. I felt like my stride unlocked a new gear.
This week was a mix of effort, learning, and enjoyment. I’m starting to trust my body’s ability to adapt and finding moments of joy in every session. Next week, I’m excited to see where this journey takes me!
