Week 3 – Between Pavement and Mountains

Third week of marathon training for Milan, and the miles are adding up! This week was a mix of running and ski touring—perfect for endurance and fun.

Heartrate during Fartlek training

Tuesday: Fartlek in the city with Footing Club de Lausanne
As usual every Tuesday, I joined my club in Lausanne for a running session. The plan was a Fartlek session, alternating between fast and recovery paces, which is great for improving speed while keeping things dynamic. Running in a group always adds an extra boost of motivation, especially during the surges!

Thursday: Progressive endurance run by the lake
A solo night run along the lake, starting easy and gradually increasing the pace. Running in the dark adds a different vibe—quieter, almost meditative, with just the sound of my footsteps and the sight of France on the other side of the lake.

Weekend: Ski touring and a night in a mountain hut
This weekend, I swapped my running shoes for ski touring gear! I joined the Swiss Alpine Club CAS for two days in the mountains, climbing through stunning landscapes, enjoying the silence of the snow, and spending a night in a remote hut. A great way to complement running: endurance on the way up, technical skills on the way down, and an excellent full-body workout.

Weekly recap: Speed work, a long run under the stars, and a dose of mountain adventure to keep things balanced. Looking forward to the next stage of training!

How do you mix other sports into your training?
