Week 8 – Running & a surprise ski trip
What a fantastic week! This training block was filled with strong workouts, milestones, and unforgettable moments. From intense speed sessions to a birthday run in the sun, plus a surprise weekend in the mountains—week 8 of marathon training had it all!
Monday – Easy Endurance & Core Strength
Started the week with 1 hour of easy endurance running in Biel. Later, I added 20 minutes of core work because a strong core = better running form = a faster marathon!
Tuesday – From Ouchy to Epalinges (17km !)
Tuesday’s run with the Footing Club Lausanne was a proper challenge—running from the lake in Ouchy all the way up to Epalinges! It was 17km of steady climbing.
Wednesday – Pilates for Stability
Midweek Pilates session to focus on core engagement. Marathon training isn’t just about running ! I use TrainSweatEat app for my strength training.
Thursday – 10 × 400m Intervals
Track time! 10x400m with Footing Club Lausanne, pushing the pace and working on turnover and efficiency. Short, fast intervals like these are amazing for improving running economy and getting comfortable with faster speeds. It was tough but super rewarding!
Friday – My Birthday Run! 6 × 1000m in the Sun
What better way to celebrate turning 30 than with 6x1000m intervals by the lake? The weather was absolutely perfect—so warm that I ran in just a sports bra, soaking up the sunshine. It felt like a gift from the running gods! Each interval was a reminder of my strength, progress, and love for this sport. What a way to kick off a new decade!
Saturday – Surprise Weekend in Zermatt! Skiing All Day
Best birthday surprise ever! Spent the entire day skiing in Zermatt, enjoying the fresh air, breathtaking views, and a perfect mix of adventure and recovery. Nothing beats cross-training in the mountains—working different muscle groups while having so much fun!
Sunday – Running with a View & Skiing on the Klein Matterhorn
Woke up to the most incredible view of the Matterhorn and laced up for a 1-hour run with mountain scenery all around. Running at altitude is a great boost for endurance, and honestly, with a view like that, I could have kept going forever!
Afterward, I hit the slopes again, skiing on the Klein Matterhorn—a dream ending to an unforgettable week.
