Week 7 – Hills, Hustle & Mental Battles!
Marathon training is all about pushing limits, staying consistent, and adapting when life gets busy—and this week had it all!
Tuesday – Conquering the Hills of Biel
Hill workouts are a love-hate relationship, but I know they make me stronger! This session was 3×8×(40 seconds fast / 20 seconds recovery) uphill, and I almost made it all the way to Macolin—so close!
Wednesday – Early morning Miles Before a Paris Work Trip
With a full workday and travel ahead, I squeezed in 45 minutes of running before sunrise in Lausanne. Running in the dark felt peaceful. Then, off to Paris for a business trip!
Friday – The Ultimate Mental Test: 1h30 on the Treadmill
Let’s be real—treadmill running for 90 minutes is tough. The area where I was staying wasn’t ideal for an early-morning run, so I hit the hotel gym. The first 30 minutes were fine, then it became a pure mental battle. But marathon training is not just about legs—it’s about training the mind to keep going, even when it gets boring or tough.
Saturday – Threshold Efforts as a team
Back home and back to real roads! Nothing beats a solid session with a running buddy, and we crushed a 2×15-minute threshold run at 4:25/km pace by the lake in Lausanne. Having a friend to push the pace and stay accountable made all the difference!
Sunday – Strength Training for Power
To finish off the week, I focused on leg strength training. Building muscle helps with stability, endurance, and injury prevention, which is key in these high-volume training weeks.
