Week 12 – Fueling & Finding the Rhythm
As the big day in Milan inches closer, Week 12 built confidence and resilience.
Monday – Resting
Only 10 minutes of stretching, but sometimes that's all you need to start the week.
Tuesday – Marathon pace practice & fueling test
This was 1h20 with 40 minutes at marathon pace, and to be honest : I was dreading it. But once the shoes were on, everything clicked. I also used this session to practice race-day fueling, which went smoothly. These are the sessions that teach you to trust the work.
Thursday – 10×60 seconds on / 60 seconds off
A fun and fast session: 10×60 seconds on / 60 seconds off during a 1-hour run. I hit paces between 3:45 and 4:00/km for the fast segments and felt strong.
Saturday – Controlled pace work
I ran a 1h10 session with 2×10 minutes at marathon pace : a chance to be reminded of the rythm one last time and feel comfortable at it. Also trying to run with all my running fuel for the first time. Also running with all the fuel planned for race day in my pockets to see how it goes. My race predictor is improving which gives me more confidence and as seen in the pictures, I am fueling outside of the runs too !
Sunday – Calm run by the lake
Wrapped up the week with a relaxed 1-hour endurance run in Lausanne along the lake. A peaceful way to reflect on the week and keep the legs ticking over. I ended the week with a nap outside to dive into… taper week !
This week was about pacing, patience, and progress. I faced sessions I feared, nailed key marathon pace work, and kept my mind focused on the finish line in Milano.
